"If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth." 1 John 3:17-18

MISSION TO CUBA
In October of 2010 we were able to travel to the Island of Youth, Cuba, as part of a humanitarian mission to aid the people of Cuba. The most often asked question we received from the good people of La Victoria was: "When are you coming back?"
We have received permission from the U.S. government to make a follow-up trip and are now making plans to fulfill our promise and return to Treasure Island (what the Island of Youth was called at one time).
We would like to thank all of the very generous members of the First Presbyterian Church, the Gothenburg Rotary, All Points Cooperative, Pony Express Chevrolet and others for helping us to achieve our Mission Funding Goals.
On our way back from La Victoria we plan to travel through the Pinar del Rio, Province, on the western tip of the main island. There we will make contact with three other rural communities that were also impacted by the hurricanes that caused so much damage in La Victoria. We hope to be able to offer help to these communities as well.
Help Celebrate God’s Gift of a Newborn Jesus
THANK YOU !
Our congregation collected and received two Newborn Offerings during the month of December. We are grateful to everyone for their generosity and appreciate your giving spirit! Because of your generosity we were able to provide much needed items for mothers, infants and children including health care kits, bottles, lotions, diaper creams, receiving and fleece blankets, onesies, sleepers, blanket sleepers, socks and beautiful quilts! These gifts were presented to the Parent-Child Center in Lexington and the Nebraska Children’s Home—Positive Alternative Program.
DRESS A GIRL AROUND THE WORLD
As part of our outreach this year we asked the sewers of the congregation to lend a hand in making Pillowcase Dresses for Mark P. and Carol S. to take to Cuba and Haiti. The sewers have responded! Hanging on the banister of the stairs leading to the Sanctuary are 20 - 25 wonderful dressed. The girls of Cuba and Hatti will love them!
To those who spent their time and talents on these dresses....THNAK YOU....they are beautiful!

MISSION GOTHENBURG
Don't sew? You can't go to Cuba? Yet, you still would like to do something? You can. This summer the First Presbyterian Church is planning on a Mission here at home...MISSION GOTHENBURG. Watch for information on this wonderful opportunity to help your freinds and neighbors, as well as meet and provide assitance to those you may not yet know. Mission Gothenburg, because there are those here at home that also need our help!
