The Fun Stuff:
I moved to Gothenburg in July of 2002 after serving four years as pastor of a church in Lincoln, Arkansas. My family includes wife Kari of almost 6 years and children McKayla (11) and Caleb (9). I enjoy golfing, running (jogging), reading, puzzles that challenge my aging brain, and watching The Big Bang Theory with my wife and trying to make her laugh by mimicking Sheldon. This fall I completed my second half-marathon at the Big Sur Half-Marathon on Monterey Bay. Running alongside the ocean is an amazing experience.

The Church Stuff:
Many years ago the Westminster Catechism defined our lives as humans as opportunities to “glorify God and enjoy him forever.” The weekly worship of God as it flows from gathering to confession to proclamation to responding to sending is the lifeblood of every congregation and everything a congregation does should flow from its worship. I am committed, as a pastor, to the ideals (and they are ideals) of the Early Church as we read about them in the second chapter of Acts. We are told that the disciples and those who early on joined this new movement “devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers” (Acts 2:42). In my understanding of those words, I envision a church that commits itself to Worship, to Discipleship, to Community, and to Service and I would invite you to come and see how we do this and to participate with us in the ongoing work of God throughout God’s earth.
Julie Rickertsen - Westminster Choristers director
Julie Williams Rickertsen:
Music is a tradition in my family and in our church. My grandparents, aunt and father have all sung in and directed the choirs of our church. I am in my eleventh year as director of Westminster Choristers.
I was born and raised in Gothenburg, and upon graduating from college at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln, my husband Luke Rickertsen and I returned to Gothenburg where we choose to work, play and raise our three children; Ainsley (9), Maddox (6), and Jax (2).
My degree is in math education, but my passion and commitment is to my three children and to the music ministry at our church. I feel that God has given me the precious gift of being able to be at home with my kids while continuing to work with the youth of our church.
Jan Gill - Chancel Choir director
Jan Williams Gill:
I began my association with the music program at First Presbyterian Church in 1951 when I became a member of the Westminster Choristers under the direction of my dad, Bob Williams.
I sang in the choir until I graduated from high school in 1961. After that I sang with the touring choir of Hastings College and the Westminster Presbyterian Church Choir in Lincoln, NE. Since Larry and I moved back to Gothenburg in 1969 I have directed the Westminster Choristers and then the Chancel Choir.
I am passionately committed to the music ministry of our church and feel fortunate to be a part of a congregation that values the strong musical tradition of our church. My husband Larry and I are parents of Benjamin Gill, Claudine Kennicutt and Sally Guthmiller and the happy grandparents of Jocelyn, Natalie and Marley Kennicutt and Callan and Cella Guthmiller.
