Pastor
David Boyd
David was born in New York, but raised in Michigan and Wisconsin. He received a B.A. from Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa and a Masters in Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis before entering the Master of Divinity program at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary.
Immediately after receiving his MBA, David went to work for a family owned company which imported, packaged, and distributed specialty foods, primarily cheese, to grocery stores around the country. During his twenty-two years there, the company grew rapidly and he rose from being a buyer to the Senior Vice President of Operations.
When David was called to become an active member of a congregation, he became deeply involved very quickly. He is an ordained deacon, has served on a variety of committees (including as chair of a PNC), and has been a loyal member of the choir in all the congregations with which he has been associated. In addition to church activities, he loves to walk, read, watch movies, and relax with family and friends. He is also a devoted follower of the University of Michigan Wolverines – full disclosure is important in these matters!
Chancel Choir Director
Jan Gill
I began my association with the music program at First Presbyterian Church in 1951 when I became a member of the Westminster Choristers under the direction of my dad, Bob Williams.
I sang in the choir until I graduated from high school in 1961. After that I sang with the touring choir of Hastings College and the Westminster Presbyterian Church Choir in Lincoln, NE. Since Larry and I moved back to Gothenburg in 1969 I have directed the Westminster Choristers and then the Chancel Choir.
I am passionately committed to the music ministry of our church and feel fortunate to be a part of a congregation that values the strong musical tradition of our church. My husband Larry and I are parents of Benjamin Gill, Claudine Kennicutt and Sally Guthmiller and the happy grandparents of Jocelyn, Natalie and Marley Kennicutt and Callan and Cella Guthmiller.
